Who I am and why I'd like to be your DJ

My name is Andrew Stanley, and I'm 21 years old and live in Lawrence, KS. I am a proud Jayhawk at the University of Kansas majoring in Latin American Studies and minoring in Peace and Conflict Studies. I'll graduate in May 2009. I love music and parties! In 7th grade I had my first party and made a mix CD that actually got everyone to dance and have a good time. I remember somebody asked me, "How did you know about all those songs?" Well, it wasn't until sophomore year in high school that I decided to invest in the equipment and do something with my music collection.

A couple of years ago I hired one of my best friends, Adam Seeger, to help me carry the equipment and keep me company at the events. We lived together in the dorms Freshman year of college. He is studying to be an Architect and is originally from Ottawa, Kansas. Adam goes to every event with me and makes sure every event runs smoothly and helps put things at ease just in case something unexpected comes up (ie: left a CD at home, need to buy batteries, etc.) so that nobody at the party is ever aware of any minor glitch. I sometimes send him on an errand to take care of whatever we may need. His friendly and laid-back personality helps keep the mood of whatever party relaxed and full of fun memories.

My business is completely based off of referrals. I am unique to all the other DJs because I put everything I am into DJing for you. I don't look at DJing as just a job, but rather I see it as you trusting me with your special event and therefore it is more than just a job where I am required to show up and play music, but rather a great priviledge to be apart of your special ocassion and an opportunity for me to make other people happy by providing them with a fluid, fun, and unique mix from the very first song to the last dance. I get ready for each event weeks ahead of time, constantly thinking about the music choice and ideas to make sure everyone has a good time. I am always listening to new popular music and finding older music and writing down the tracks to buy the music later. The absolutely most important thing to me is that everyone at the party, especially the host :-) , has a great time and the best DJ they have had. I have a lot of fun preparing for each new event. I get to know the client, their taste in music, what kind of people will be at the party, and buy new music to be sure and be able to play almost any request.
